woo. it's hot. too hot to bother with capital letters.

i have a thought that i'm pondering in my head.

what to do with my hair, now it's getting sweltering?

it's short, over my ears-ish, but quite thick, and i feel a bit like i'm wearing a hat sometimes. it's too short for pigtails except ones that are barely useful. i want to cut it but i love the shape it is at the moment, and felt that when it was shorter it was a bit unfeminine, and i prefer it now with a bit of curl to it.

those who've seen it recently, reckon it could be thinned but stay the same? i honestly have no idea what to do about it.

So I'm trying to decide whether I want to run for president any more or not.

At the moment I'm thinking not, because I don't know what I'll be doing next year and I don't think I'd be ok if I ran and someone else won.

But at the same time I hate what a certain person's take on the choir is, and I don't really want to be part of a choir with him in charge. He just shits me. Nat's way of running the choir is quite good, even if she's sometimes a bit too nice. :P I'd prefer a system like hers, except with my own take on it all.

Would you actually vote for me as prez? Do you think I'd be a competent prez? Should I let him have prez and I'll run for VP?

I'm a bit confuzzled, and after advice.

I wonder if my self-esteem would be better if I was a size 12? All signs, sadly, seem to point to yes.

And a tentative birthday wishlist, purely for my own purposes )

WHAT NORMAL PEOPLE DO WHEN THEY ARE HOME SICK:
  • keep warm
  • drink orange juice
  • take vitamins
  • sleep
  • avoid dairy and other mucus-making products
  • demand attention
  • see a doctor/naturopath/healthcare professional
WHAT SARAH DOES WHEN SHE IS HOME SICK:
  • go into denial about how sick she is and plans to go out to dinner with friends
  • only don't go out to dinner because her mother says it's a bad idea
  • realise this is true
  • eat ice cream with ice magic, chocolate, subway cookies, nutella and/or butter on toast, cheese, le snaks and other things that are not even remotely good for one
  • dance and giggle with glee when the uni doctors aren't taking appointments
  • neglect to tell half the family she is sick
  • stay up late making earrings instead of sleeping, reading or doing her now-ridiculously-overdue homework
CONCLUSION: I possibly have the flu. I definitely have a good appetite. I'm freeeeeeezing cold. And I'm an idiot.

Hai gaize!

My weekend was AWESOME! How was yours?

Spent it cruising down the Murray River in a luxury steamboat replica called the Murray Princess. 3-course lunches, 3-course dinners, hot buffet breakfasts, free 24-hour hot chocolate, coffee and tea, free spas, free saunas, fabulous staff, a speed boat trip, wicked cocktails, and an [info]astraimperator to snuggle. All I paid for all weekend was a few drinks, some clothes from second-hand shops along the way (you can never spend too much time in good second-hand shops) and a toy echidna for Mumsy. (The cruise was for [info]astraimperator's nanna's 80th birthday, and she paid for all 14 of us to go.) Wheee!

Of course, there was the downside of a few of [info]astraimperator's family deciding that a weekend on a boat with little to no chance of escape was a great time to start family drama. It escalated, then reduced, and now is mainly OK. Wheee!

Nothing much else to report. Still haven't seen the new HP movie, because every time it gets organised I can't go. Phooey. But I'll probably go see it on Sunday with [info]astraimperator, after or before we go to AVCON. Wheee!

And now, to encourage you to spend all your money! Wheee again!

The Down Under Street Team on Etsy (DUST) is having a Christmas in July sale. I will be participating. Info is here: http://www.dustteam.com/sales/julyCIJlist.php and it should be AWESOME!

Hi guys!

Sorry I missed choir on Tuesday, my body hasn't adjusted to the new sleeping pattern (whereby I get up at seven AM instead of something-in-the-PMs) and I keep getting dizzy and nauseated. Bleh.

I made creme brulee the other night on a whim, because I had egg yolks left over from friands and didn't feel like making lemon butter. I'd never had it before, and now there is a large chance I'll be making it every second day. Dear god, but it was good.

And I made a no-bake lemon slice yesterday, but as I didn't actually read the recipe properly it was too dry, I added more milk, and the damn thing never set. Oh well. It tastes just as good if you scoop it out of the pan with a spoon.

:P

Winter school is full of fail, I miss sewing like crazy (no time right now) and I have an important announcement to make:

I joined the Dark(est) Side. I read the Twilight Series. And I loved it.

I am so mad at my inner thirteen-year-old right now.

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.

I appear to have picked up some sort of eye thingy-infection-problem-whatsit. No gunk, no watering, they are just mainly bright red and very itchy. WTF?

I'm beginning to enjoy going to the gym.

And considering, just a little, changing my career to dog trainer.

Revision has made me even crazier. Yay!

I need a pair of purple knee-high boots.

As I am poor, I doubt I will get them.

But there's a gorgeous pair at that (*sniff* sweatshop) Dr Martens/Chucks/I Love Billy place in the mall and they have a pair of purple cowboy boots.

Meep.

And SQUEE goes out in all its forms to [info]_osk_  and [info]badylugz  who just got weddinged. Yay!
